Four Drivers Set to Make First Novelis Supermodified Starts of 2024 in JP Jewelers Retro Night Twin 40s at Oswego Speedway

OSWEGO, NY (August 1, 2024) - An exciting lineup of fresh faces and returning veterans will hit the track for the JP Jewelers Retro Night Twin 40s this Saturday, August 3, at Oswego Speedway. The evening’s event will showcase the Novelis Supermodifieds in a double-feature format, promising another action-packed night of racing.

Highlighting the field are four drivers making their first Novelis Supermodified starts of the year, adding extra buzz to the second twin event of the season. Among them is New Jersey’s Joey Payne, a former feature winner and track record holder at Oswego Speedway. Payne will return with the Penix/Payne Racing No. 14 Hawk Chassis, marking his first appearance since the 2022 Classic. Last Classic Weekend, Payne drove for Pat Strong in the No. 99Q Supermodified but is back in his own Hawk Chassis after it received updates over the past two seasons.

Another notable entry is Aric Iosue, also a past Oswego Speedway feature winner. Iosue, who competed only in the Challenge events last season, will return to Oswego for the remainder of 2024, including the August 3rd race, Mr. Supermodified on August 10th, Track Championship Night on August 17th, and the Budweiser International Classic 200 on September 1.

Two more Supermodified rookies will also make their regular season debuts. Lockport, NY’s Ryan Zitzka will take over the Zitzka Racing No. 25 Rocket Chassis from his brother Kenyon Zitzka. Kenyon’s most recent outing in the car was at Berlin Raceway’s Great Lakes Classic, where he achieved a top 10 finish in Friday’s 40-lapper and a second-place finish in Saturday’s qualifier. Ryan Zitzka, who previously made a single start at Oswego in last year’s International Classic, will now be aiming to make his mark in the Novelis Supermodified division.

Completing the rookie lineup is Lockport, NY’s Bobby Holmes, a 350 Supermodified Classic Champion in Fall 2021. Holmes will make his debut in the Novelis Supermodified category with his new car owner, Trey Hoddick, who purchased the former Locke Racing 37 winged Allegresso car. Holmes, now racing as the No. 19, previously debuted the car at Berlin Raceway under ISMA/MSS trim as the Lazy 8.

Fans can look forward to a full night of action, with double features for the Supermodifieds, with the Pathfinder Bank SBS and J&S Paving 350 Supers also providing full programs. The Speedway’s Old Timers Reunion will take place earlier in the day at Lighthouse Lanes in Oswego.

General admission is $20, with kids 16 and under admitted free with a paid adult.
