Cameron Rowe Runs Away With Pathfinder Bank SBS Feature on Circle T Ready Mix Night

OSWEGO, NY (June 10, 2024) - Veteran driver Cameron Rowe claimed his sixth career feature win in a wild 25-lap Pathfinder Bank SBS feature at Oswego Speedway last Saturday night. The race, initially scheduled for more laps, was shortened due to impending rain, but the excitement was in no short supply.

The race began with polesitter Carter Gates and Cameron Rowe leading the field to the green flag. Right from the start, it looked like it could be three-wide for the lead as third-starting Drew Pascuzzi joined Gates and Rowe out front.

Gates and Rowe continued to race side by side for the opening two laps, but Rowe would finally clear Gates as they completed lap 2, with Pascuzzi following Rowe through to take second.

However, Pascuzzi spun just as he secured the runner-up position, leading to a multi-car pileup that involved DJ Shuman, Jesse Bearup, AJ Larkin—who had earlier won his first career heat race—and rookies Cameron Rowe Jr. and Matt Matteson.

Despite the chaos, both rookies managed to continue. Gates did a tremendous job avoiding the wreck, which brought out the red flag.

On the first restart, Rowe and Jake Brown were now on the front row, followed by Gates, Tony DeStevens, Tessa Crawford, Shuman, and Hoag. However, the yellow flag came out again for Matteson, who had issues stemming from the earlier wreck and subsequently retired the 47 car.

This led to a single-file restart with Rowe, Gates, Brown, DeStevens, and Shuman leading the way.

Rowe pulled away quickly on this restart, while Shuman, rebounding from the earlier incident, went around the outside of DeStevens for fourth on lap 6 and then passed Brown on lap 8, with DeStevens following him through to take fourth. This shuffled Brown back to fifth.

As Rowe, Gates, Shuman, DeStevens, and Brown led the pack on lap 10, the yellow flag flew again for a hard wreck involving Rowe Jr. and Brown, who tangled in turn 3, leaving both cars badly damaged.

With 15 laps to go on the restart, Rowe again pulled away from Gates, Shuman, DeStevens, and Crawford, who remained nose to tail.

Shuman eventually made a great move to pass Gates for second with two laps to go, heading into turn 3. Rowe, however, was long gone and cruised to the victory, followed by Shuman and Gates. In a last-lap effort, Hoag managed to get by DeStevens to recover for fourth place, then relegating DeStevens to fifth.

"You got to stay alive. Lots of fast cars wrecked tonight so I kind of feel like it was handed to me, but I'll take the win," said Rowe in victory lane. "Thanks to my sponsors, Jack, my pit crew, Rad Racegear, J&S Paving, Tim Grant. Couldn't do it without them guys. My wife, my son Cameron Rowe Jr. as well."

Oswego Speedway is off Saturday, June 15, for the ISMA/MSS Super Crown Nationals at Lorain Raceway Park in Ohio but returns Saturday, June 22, with a full program for Novelis Supermodifieds, Pathfinder Bank SBS, and J&S Paving 350 Supers on Autograph Night presented by Chase Enterprises.
