124,422 Cans Collected in 2019 Novelis Fan Can Chase; Jim Larkin Repeats as Champion

OSWEGO, NY (July 24, 2019) - A near record breaking 124,422 cans were collected in the 2019 Novelis Fan Can Chase with Jim Larkin earning his eighth consecutive championship in the can drive plus six tickets to the 63rd annual Budweiser International Classic Weekend.

For his eighth championship, Larkin will also have first choice at the top three prizes from the 2019 Fan Can Chase which include two 2020 Oswego Speedway regular season reserved tickets, pit passes, or Sky Deck passes.

This year’s total of nearly 125,000 cans through fifty nine different participants, fifty six of which earned tickets to this year’s Classic, is the second highest through three events and puts the all-time can count at over 1.5 million.

Through fifteen seasons, the Fan Can Chase continues to raise nearly $100,000 which benefits several organizations including Oswego County Opportunities, Child Advocacy Center, ARISE, and Blessings in a Backpack, among many more.

“Novelis is grateful for the continued amount of fan participation in these events,” said Novelis Finance Lead, Tom Salvador. “We are also grateful for our partnership with Oswego Speedway and them helping us promote the importance of recycling aluminium.”

Turning in over 18,000 cans this season, Larkin will choose his prize, followed by second and third place finishers Ron Gunther and Marty Beeman, who will have next choice. All three will take home six tickets to Saturday and Sunday of Classic Weekend.

The remaining top twelve of Ricky Pritchard, Gary Rookey, Chris Cote, Robbie Gunther, Lester Smart, Chris Lupa, George Geroux, Mary Spaulding, and Aaron Vincent combined for 28,000 cans and will take home a minimum of four Classic tickets each.

Through fifty six prize winners, Oswego Speedway has agreed to giveaway nearly 200 general admission passes to Classic Weekend 63, of course headlined by the Budweiser International Classic 200 for Novelis Supermodifieds.

Longtime title sponsor of Oswego’s Supermodifieds, Novelis is the nation’s leading producer of aluminum products and the world’s largest recycler of aluminum, working alongside customers to provide innovative solutions to the beverage can, automotive and high-end specialty markets.
