Former Pathfinder Bank SBS Champion Andrew Schartner Planning Oswego Return in August

OSWEGO, NY (July 1, 2019) - Andrew Schartner, a former track champion and twelve-time feature winner in Oswego Speedway’s Pathfinder Bank SBS ranks, has confirmed that he will return to the driver’s seat this August.

Having been one of the division’s most successful drivers over the past decade, Schartner was SBS champion in 2014. After spending much of this year away, the Charlotte, N.C. resident says he will be back at the speedway next month, again piloting the Crowe Motorsports No. 18.

“Thanks to Tom Aaserud and Crowe Motorsports, we have been given the green light to get the No. 18 back on track at Oswego,” Schartner said. “We should be good to go. I am planning on the first week in August and then we’ll try to tune up for a couple races before the Classic.”

Following a runner-up bid for the championship two years earlier, Schartner also competed on a limited schedule in 2018, posting a total of three top five finishes. His 2019 ride will be the very same car built by his father Karl, which debuted with a trip to victory lane in May of 2017.

“I really need to thank my Dad for the endless hours of research and running around to try to make this happen,” Schartner continued. “When the crate change came out, we weren’t sure what the future looked like. It's been a long few months and I’m excited to get back out there.”

With Schartner readying to join the fray, there is now a healthy mix of six former feature winners registered for action in the Pathfinder Bank SBS class along with over a dozen more drivers who are in search of their first career Oswego victories.

Oswego Speedway’s 2019 season will continue this Saturday, July 6 as Holiday Inn Express and Suites of Oswego presents the Independence Weekend ‘Grand Prix’ featuring fireworks, driver autographs, and extra distance features for the Novelis Supermodifieds, Pathfinder Bank SBS and 350 Supers.

To purchase tickets for this weekend’s event, please phone the box office at (315)-342-0646 or email oswegospeedway@gmail.com.
