The largest field of supermodifieds of the 2010 season could not get past their heat races as Mother Nature opened up the skies and forced the postponement of the feature races on June 19th. Six of the eight events, heat races in both divisions, were run making it a completed show for ticket holders. Both features have been added to the line up for July 3rd with entry discounts for June 19th adult admission grandstand ticket holders.

A torrential down pour, coupled with persistent showers hit the area, just as speedway officials were posting the feature starting line ups, drenching the racing surface. Despite track drying efforts for an hour and a half, the track was not drying out enough for racing to continue.  The combination of very high humidity, no heat or wind, and the lateness of the hour all combined to call it a rain out.

Twenty cars is each the PathFinder Bank SBS Series and the Novelis Supermodified division were pit side and ready to go for their features.  Bob Henry and Tim Barbeau will lead the SBS field to green in the July 3rd make up, while Daniel Connors Jr. and Jeff Holbrook will lead the supermodifieds to the green flag for their first features that evening. Homegrown drivers Dave Danzer, Tim Barbeau and Chris Proud all won SBS heat races, while Keith Shampine, Jeff Holbrook, Joe Gosek won the supermodified heat races. The postponed features from June 19th will be the first events on Saturday July 3rd.

Saturday July 3rd will now have pit gates opening at 1:00 with the grandstands opening and practice beginning at 2:00.  Practice will end at 3:30. The rained out Alliance Bank and Jakes Automotive feature races will begin at 4:00. The SBS feature will go off first followed by the supermodified feature. After that feature all cars will come onto the track for the Constellation and Entergy “Kids Autograph Session”. That will be followed by a complete RJ Caruso and Oswego Bagelry & Sandwich Shop night of racing. After the racing there will be a fireworks display and the Domicolo & Barlow Band will be performing on the infield Burkes and Galloway Realty Stage.

A $5 adult grandstand admission discount will be available at the Box Office or Ticket Booth #2 on July 3rd for holders of June 19th adult grandstand tickets. All fans will get a $12 adult ticket on July 3rd for $7 if they turn a June 19th Price Chopper ticket stub or their yellow grandstand entry tickets dated June 19th that read “17 and Over”, “Alliance Bank”, “Jakes Automotive” or “Sensis Corporation”. Some fans will be able to get a $17 Padded Reserved Seat ticket for $12 by turning in their gray reserved seat tickets dated June 19th at the Box Office only. All single use VIP Tower and Sky Deck tickets from June 19th will not be honored on July 3rd nor do they have a trade in credit towards any other tickets.

Independence Weekend sets the stage for eight feature events in just eight days at the Oswego Speedway.
