The July 5th Maple View Garage and Ferris Industries Night at the Oswego Speedway found a veteran and a new face in Dominos Pizza Victory Lane. In the PathFinder Bank SBS Series it was the second win of the year for Mike Bond in the Solazzo #26 and in the Novelis Supermodified division it was Bobby Magner getting his first ever win at Oswego Speedway for Double Deuce Racing. In the PathFinder Bank SBS 35 lap feature race, Mike Bond was trying to get to the front as quick as he could as he and Kevin Knopp are hooked up in a torrid points race in the early going of the 2008 season. Bond settled into the second position on lap eleven and took over the top spot on lap fifteen. Brian Sobus ran a solid race in his new #79 which is the former SBS Track Championship car #13 from 2007. Kreig Heroth proved that his fourth place finish from June 7th was no fluke as he ran in the top five throughout the feature race. At the line it was Mike Bond picking up his fifteenth career SBS feature win, putting him in third place on the all-time win list. Brian Sobus came home in second place. Rob Pullen finished a strong third. Kevin Knopp continued his great season with a fourth place finish followed by Kreig Heroth with his second consecutive top five finish. Stan Gates, Josh LaRochelle, Dave Danzer, Shawn Walker and Barry Kingsley rounded out the top ten.
The Garafolo’s Heat Race winners were Josh LaRochelle, Rob Pullen and Jack Patrick. The Cutro Professional Inspection Up ‘n Comer was Kreig Heroth. The Hannibal IGA Supermarket Express Lane award went to Jason Simmons. The Colosse Cheese Store Hard Charger was Mike Bond. The Butler Disposal Service Hard Luck driver was Jack Patrick. The White’s Car Care Tony White 4th Place award went to Kevin Knopp. In the Novelis Supermodified 50 lap feature race, Bobby Magner led from start to finish but had to overcome several restarts which wiped out leads of up to five seconds. Magner was on a rail in the feature after picking up his heat race win. The race for positions was behind Magner throughout the feature race. Jason Spaulding ran his best ever feature race running second to Magner for the first forty laps. Otto Sitterly slipped past Spaulding with ten laps to go in the feature but could not make the pass on Magner for the win. Magner’s teammate, Pat Lavery in the #2, moved into fourth place on lap twenty six as the two Double Deuce cars were trying for podium finishes. At the finish it was Magner collecting his first ever supermodified win at the Oswego Speedway. Otto Sitterly was a close second. Jason Spaulding picked up third as his best ever supermodified finish to date. Pat Lavery came home in fourth and Shawn Muldoon finished in fifth. Bob Reis, Greg Furlong, Lou LeVea, Bentley Warren and Jerry Curran rounded out the top ten.
