The second Novelis and Habitat for Humanity “Get your can to the Speedway” night was another big success despite the fact that the races were cancelled before the can collection was scheduled to end. An “unofficial” total of 15,626 recyclable aluminum cans were turned in. The single largest donation was over 2,000 cans just as it was on the first collection date on May 24th.

The 15,626 cans will be sorted at the Scriba Lane Redemption Center to verify the cans in each bag represent the quantity of cans that the donator listed on their form. Once the number of cans is verified an official total will be announced. Also the donation forms will be checked to see that all fans donating cans purchased a ticket to the races on June 21st, which is a requirement to earn the free Classic Week tickets that were offered to fans.

The ticket prizes on the line for the June 21st collection were (2) tickets for Saturday of Classic Week for the first 200 cans turned in and (1) more ticket for each 100 additional cans turned in.

The largest “unofficial” donation on June 21st belonged to Al Archer who wrote 2,312 cans on his form. When the numbers are official Al Archer will be awarded (2) Sky Deck Passes for Sunday of Classic Week.

There is one more can collection day scheduled for August 2nd. Fans turning in 300 cans on that day will receive (2) tickets for Sunday of Classic Week. The single largest donation on that day will earn a fan (2) Sky Deck tickets for Friday, Saturday and Sunday of Classic Week.

The top three donators after August 2nd will all take part in a Grand Prize drawing on Classic Sunday. The prizes that they will split will be sets of 2009 Season Passes for the Grandstands, Pit Area or Sky Deck.

A running total of leaders will be published after the June 21st collection numbers are verified at Scriba Lane Redemption Center.
