The 2008 Oswego Speedway schedule of events kicks off on Saturday April 19th with the 5th Annual Pizza Villa Spring Spruce-Up Day. This tradition started by racing fans prior to the start of the 2004 racing season has become a favorite pre-racing get-together for a large bunch of fans to catch up on what has happened in the off season. The original date of April 12th has been pushed back one week for the second year in a row due to rain in the forecast.

The Oswego winter for 2007-2008 was milder than most recent ones but seemed to last longer. All of the snow has finally melted and warmer temperatures the week of April 7th should go a long way to get things in shape for a productive Spruce-Up Day.

The Oswego Pizza Villa location will again be providing free lunch for the volunteers that attend and the Oswego Speedway will be passing out discount passes to those in attendance as well. The all-new Doug Heveron T-shirt should be here and will be in stock and available for sale on that day. The full color shirt, which is a tribute to 2008 being Doug’s last year behind the wheel of a race car, will be on sale for just $20. According to Tom Heveron, a portion of the proceeds from the sales of the shirts will be going to Make-A-Wish and Cleaning for a Reason.

The Pizza Villa Spring Spruce-Up day begins the countdown to opening day at the Oswego Speedway which is less than one month away.
