(By Danny Johnson) “We made a lot of progress, but we knew we had to go back to the drawing board,” is how Ed LaPrade described his and Doug Heveron’s return to Oswego Speedway last season.  LaPrade and Heveron formed one of the magical teams in Oswego Speedway history back in the early 80’s.  Together they won 33 features, two track championships and 2 Classics, one of which was the day after his idol Jimmy Shampine was killed.  Between the 81 and 82 seasons, Heveron and LaPrade won 24 features in 35 races for an astounding 70% win percentage.

classic_win_06.jpgOSWEGO, NY - Greg Furlong continued his dream season at Oswego Speedway as he picked up his fourth International Classic victory Sunday afternoon. Furlong started on the pole position, fell back early, then grabbed the lead near the ¾ mark of the race and lapped everyone in the field except for the top four cars. It was his 12th win of the season.

Furlong and Todd Stowell started the race from the front row, with Stowell taking the lead when the green flag came out. The field quickly got in single file order with Stowell, Furlong, Mike Lichty, Mike Ordway, Dave McKnight, Randy Ritskes, Doug Didero, Pat Lavery, Jeff Holbrook and Tim Snyder leading the charge.

News and notes….44 cars were pitside Sunday. Heat races were won by Gary Morton and Doug Heveron. Keith Gilliam got it as he was the highest in Oswego points not qualified after the heat races.
