OSWEGO, NY (August 25) – Budweiser International Classic Week will kick-off one day earlier in 2012.  The Tom Baker Radio Show, based in Charlotte, NC from the studios of ESPN 730-AM, will be broadcast from Lighthouse Lanes in Oswego with a LIVE remote from 8-10pm on Tuesday, August 28.  The radio show, which will feature several call-in and live interviews with Oswego Speedway drivers, will also be simulcast LIVE online at 3widelife.com.

Among the early guests scheduled to appear live or via phone are 2012 Oswego Speedway Supermodified track championship runner-up Pat Lavery, 2012 King of Wings winner Dave Gruel, defending Bud Light SBS Classic winner Andrew Schartner, and former NASCAR Nationwide and Truck Series champion Johnny Benson.  Benson of course will be behind the wheel of the Ray Graham Jr. Hawk chassis, wrenched by Clyde Booth.

Oswego Speedway P.R. Specialist Dan Kapuscinski will serve as co-host for the two hour program.

Baker, an Oswego native is excited to return home for one of the biggest racing weekend’s in the country.

“It is going to be a thrill to come back and be a part of what is still my favorite race weekend of all,” Tom said.  “Oswego Speedway was the catalyst for everything I’ve been blessed to be able to achieve in the sport and there is still nothing for me like the Supermodifieds and Classic Weekend anywhere.  It will be great to have Danny (Kapuscinski) co-hosting and I can’t wait to do the show from Lighthouse Lanes.  I hope it will be a packed house that night so we can kick-off Classic right!”

Kapuscinski, who used to co-host Baker’s program in CNY some 10 years ago, believes the show on Classic Week will be very beneficial.

“There are a number of Supermodified and Oswego Speedway fans in the south, especially Charlotte,” said Kapuscinski.  “Tom has done an outstanding job of building a following in the Charlotte area and this will help us to bridge that gap some and continue to bring our brand of racing to the masses.”

While bringing Supermodified racing and Oswego Speedway to a greater audience is paramount, at the same time the live remote to be held at Lighthouse Lanes will offer the local media and fans a chance to be up close with some of the drivers from the Speedway as they prepare for the biggest weekend of the year.

“We encourage everyone, media and fans, to come out to the Lanes on Tuesday night and be a part of this event,” said Kapuscinski.  “It should serve as an outstanding way to kick-off the week.  Come have a bite to eat, an ice cold drink, get caught up on all the news surrounding the weekend and talk to your favorite driver.”

The two hour program is being co-sponsored by Lighthouse Lanes and Burke’s Do-It-Best Home Centers of Oswego and Fulton.  The Tom Baker Radio Show, which normally runs from 8-9pm, will run an extra hour on Tuesday night.
