OSWEGO, NY (July 12, 2018) - The month of July rolls on at Oswego Speedway this Saturday the 14th when C’s Beverage Center presents the ‘Summer Championship’ for the Novelis Supermodifieds and Pathfinder Bank SBS.

With seven Supermodified events in the books so far this season, only five additional dates remain in the ‘Road to the Championship’ which decides the 2018 track titlist.

Currently, Otto Sitterly has over a 40 point lead ahead of Keith Shampine and Michael Barnes in search of his record breaking eighth track title while Anthony Losurdo and Russ Brown are in a torrid battle for the rights to the Small Block Supermodified championship.

There have been a total of four different race winners in the Supermodified division thus far with Sitterly, Barnes, Dave Shullick Jr, and Chris Perley all visiting Turning Stone Resort Casino victory lane at some point throughout the season.

Back on May 26, Shullick and Perley split the Twin 50’s with Shullick dominating the ‘Spring Championship’ on June 9, Barnes sweeping the Twin 35’s on June 16, Shullick grabbing his third checkered flag of the season on June 30 in the Independence Weekend ‘Grand Prix,’ and most recently Sitterly driving to a popular win on the first occasion since September of 2015 just one week ago on July 7.

Currently Sitterly leads Shampine, Barnes, Shullick and Dave Danzer inside the top five of the points race with Aric Iosue in sixth, rookie Tyler Thompson seventh, Brandon Bellinger eighth and Lou LeVea Jr. and Sr. rounding out the top ten.

Dave Gruel, Dan Connors Jr, Joe Gosek, and Jeff Abold, who are normally amongst the front runners in the division, have all either been involved in heavy accidents or struggled with mechanical issues this year and therefore been unable to compete in every event or unable to finish every race.

While Jeff West made his first appearance of the season a week ago, Gruel and Gosek were out of the action following heavy crashes on June 30 while Abold also sat out for the second week straight due to engine troubles. All of these drivers are expected back at the track on July 14.

Veteran Hal LaTulip also missed his first race in several seasons last Saturday night for his daughter’s wedding, but will return on Saturday with his No. 56.

Shaun Gosselin has gradually made progress with his reworked No. 77 this season that has so far seen three top ten finishes and also a heat race win. After missing last week’s show for his daughter's birthday, Gosselin will also be making the trek from Chicago back to Oswego.

Logan Rayvals, Roger Clark, and rookies Nathan Schultzkie and Brent Murray include drivers who have competed on a part time basis that also will compete on July 14.

Saturday, July 21, Best Western PLUS Captain’s Quarters and Quality Inn and Suites Riverfront presents the 32nd Annual $10,000 to win Mr. Novelis Supermodified which is set to include the long awaited return of speedway hall of famer Doug Didero as well as former IndyCar star Davey Hamilton in the Nicotra Racing No. 6.

Tickets are available for the next two weeks by phoning the speedway box office at (315)-342-0646 or sending an email to oswegospeedway@gmail.com.
