OSWEGO, NY (July 6, 2018) - Oswego Speedway is set for it’s busiest stretch of the season with four races in four weeks that began last Saturday, June 30 and will continue tomorrow with a ‘Road to the Championship’ event presented by Helena Agri-Enterprises on Saturday, July 7.

Six Novelis Supermodified events have already been contested this season when you factor in the Twin 50’s and Twin 35’s and certainly the most consistently successful driver overall has been Otto Sitterly.

Although Sitterly has not yet gotten his long awaited win which he is still in search of for the first occasion since September of 2015, the seven time speedway champion from Canajoharie has finished in the top five for five of the six races completed and currently has over a twenty point lead in the championship standings ahead of Keith Shampine and Michael Barnes.

Barnes swept the Twin 35’s on June 16 and has been in the top five on one more occasion along with the two victories.

Shampine, who scored his first Oswego triumph in the Jim Shampine Memorial 75 last season, is currently runner up in points and has shown speed and consistency all year long in the Osetek Racing No. 55.

Defending speedway champion Dave Shullick Jr. has already been to victory lane in half of the races contested this season, but after he was unable to start the second Twin 35 back on June 16, Shullick is behind the eight ball and only sits fourth in the standings despite his most recent victory in the Independence Weekend Grand Prix 75 this past Saturday night.

Rounding out the top five in the standings is Dave Danzer, who is back at Oswego this season after campaigning with ISMA last year. Danzer has been consistent with four top fives in six events, but would like to find a little more speed in the No. 52.

Dave Gruel, Joe Gosek, Aric Iosue, rookie Tyler Thompson, and Brandon Bellinger complete the top ten in the race to the championship as of July 6.

In the Pathfinder Bank SBS division, the battle to watch in the standings so far has been the battle for the lead between Russ Brown and Anthony Losurdo.

Losurdo and Brown have swapped the top spot back and forth several times already with Brown leading the Small Block Super contingent into the month of July.

Neither driver ran full time last season, but each are competing with brand new chassis; Brown in a Hedger and Losurdo in an FFB.

Losurdo already has one win to his credit in 2018 with Brown searching for the 22nd of his career after starting the season with top five finishes in each of the four shows thus far.

Remaining very much in championship contention inside the top five are June 9 winner Mike Bond in third and returning campaigner Dan Kapusincski in fourth.

Kapuscinski has been very impressive to start the season with three podium finishes in four total events.

Defending track champion Dave Cliff is fifth in points after a solid start to his 2018 which included a victory on Opening Night.

Outside of the top five right now, but still in the hunt for the track championship early on are Jack Patrick in sixth, Barry Kingsley in seventh, Camden Proud in eighth, Cameron Rowe in ninth, and Dalton Doyle in tenth.

Greg O’Connor and Mike Bruce, who each won features last season, are currently sitting outside of the top ten in eleventh and twelfth while Joshua Sokolic leads the Rookie of the Year battle thirteenth in the standings.

Tomorrow’s fast paced program at the Oswego Speedway is also scheduled to include the return of Supermodified driver Jeff West, who will campaign the Jerry Curran maintained No. 1 machine sponsored by Indy Performance Composites.
