CONCORD, NC (April 3, 2018) - Osetek Racing Technologies is proud to announce that popular North Country car dealership TJ Toyota of Potsdam will return in 2018 for a second consecutive season as the primary sponsor of the black No. 55, which for the sixth season will be driven by Keith Shampine of Concord, N.C., and race weekly in the Novelis Supermodified division at Oswego Speedway.

In 2017 the Chris Osetek-owned team accomplished their best season to date. Shampine drove the TJ Toyota 55 to his and Osetek’s first career feature win in the race named after the supermodified veteran’s late uncle, the Jim Shampine Memorial 75 on May 27.  Shampine would back up his first win with the team’s second feature triumph the next week in the first half of Twin 35 night on June 10.

The Osetek 55 would race to top-five finishes another four times throughout the course of the summer on their way to a third-place finish in the final Supermodified point standings. The team would earn one more major accomplishment before season’s end when Shampine clocked a 16.104 lap time for the pole position for the International Classic 200.

With last year’s accomplishments behind them, the Osetek Racing Technologies / TJ Toyota team is looking forward to more success in 2018, which opens this Memorial Day weekend with 50-lap doubleheader Jim Shampine Memorial features on Saturday, May 26.

“We accomplished several of our goals last year with our first feature wins, pole for the Classic and a consistent season that got us a podium finish in the final points,” Osetek stated. “But now we’ve turned the page and we’re getting ready for 2018 and hopefully more accomplishments with Keith, our crew and the help of Ed Cloce and his group at TJ Toyota.  We’re grateful for the support and looking forward to getting our TJ Toyota super back in victory lane.”

Shampine echoed his car owner’s thoughts when looking ahead to the upcoming Oswego Speedway season.

“We’re all really proud of last year,” Shampine said. “Both Chris and I had been trying to win a race at Oswego for many years, and for one reason or another, it had eluded us until last season.  It was certainly a great feeling to get a couple wins, but it makes you hungry for more.  I think we used to be satisfied with top-five runs, and now we’re a little disappointed if we’re not up front challenging for the win each night out.  I know we’ll all be working extra hard to get the car up front. We know there are some improvements we need to make to our program as we continue to grow as a team, and I think with the help of our crew and TJ Toyota, we’ll make those improvements and be even stronger this year.”

Located at 6706 State Hwy 56 in Potsdam, N.Y., TJ Toyota is a family-owned auto dealership that opened in 1980 with the primary goal of providing customers the best product at the best price available and superior customer service.
