OSWEGO, NY (January 25, 2017) – With the environment and community in mind, Novelis once again partnered with Oswego Speedway and Scriba Bottle and Can Return in 2016 to continue the popular Novelis ‘Fan Can Chase,’ now completing its 12th consecutive season.
Also serving as the title sponsor of the headline Novelis Supermodified division at Oswego Speedway, Novelis conducted three recycled can drive collections at the Speedway in 2016, with the assistance of Scriba Bottle and Can Return, collecting a record 149,248 cans.
Novelis is the world leader in rolled aluminum products, delivering unique solutions for the most demanding global applications, such as beverage cans, automobiles, architecture, and consumer electronics.
“The fans of the Oswego Speedway came through once again this past season with another record year of can collections,” said Novelis Finance Lead and Fan Can Chase Coordinator, Tom Salvador. “We are extremely happy our partnership with the Oswego Speedway helps us get out our message on the importance of recycling aluminum. We are also grateful to be able to distribute the funds from these collections to many local organizations in the community.”
While the can collection nights play a large role in the fundraising efforts, the Speedway also donates all cans purchased at the Speedway by race fans to the overall total.
After combining all cans collected, Jennifer Parrish of Scriba Bottle and Can Return was able to present Novelis with a check for $8,954.92.
Major contributors to this cause were the top three finishers in the 2016 Novelis Fan Can Chase.
Steve Larkin led the way with an astonishing 18,753 cans donated with Ricky Pritchard the runner-up finisher at 8,815 cans and Mary Spaulding completing the podium at 7,305 cans.
All money raised in 2016 will be given back by Novelis to various community related initiatives.
Oswego Speedway is proud to announce that this partnership will continue into 2017 with the Novelis ‘Fan Can Chase’ again taking place on three race nights during the upcoming season.
Those nights will be the Memorial Day Weekend Port City ‘Super Spectacle’ on Saturday, May 27, the 31st annual $10,000 to win Mr. Novelis Supermodified Championship on Saturday, July 22, as well as the Speedway’s $5 admission track championship night on Saturday, August 19.
