Otto Sitterly put the exclamation point on his dream season Sunday at Oswego Speedway, as he drove a textbook race en route to winning his first ever International Classic.  Sitterly qualified second fast on Saturday, and rode behind leader Doug Didero for the first 159 laps of the 200 lap event.  On lap 160, he pulled his blue #7 to the inside of Didero along the front straightaway, and made the pass for the lead, and eventual victory.  Earlier in the year, Sitterly picked up his third track championship in four years.  It was the first Classic victory for car owner John Nicotra as well.

Defending Friday night Winged Champion Chris Perley had one of those nights last year, Friday night of Labor Day weekend in the winged Nationals. In qualifying, Chris went out and set a new track record with a blazing lap of 15.198, blitzed the field easily in his qualifying heat and came from 11th starting spot to Victory Lane in the 50lap feature event.

“It’s the Oswego Classic, you’ll bet I’ll be back!,” Tilton, New Hampshire’s Dave Sanborn said when asked if he was coming back for his second run in the 200.  Last year, the guy with the biggest smile on his face at the end of the day wasn’t the driver that led the most laps (Dave McKnight), it wasn’t the fast time trailer (Joe Gosek), it wasn’t even the guy that won the whole ball of wax (Doug Didero), it was the guy that made it full circle, from watching the race in the back grandstand the year before, to putting his supermodified in the biggest show of them all, “Super” Dave Sanborn.
