The weekly Galloway Realty & FTS Office Discounters 50/50 raffle will get a shot in the arm on “Mr. Novelis Supermodified” night as a Novelis employee will be joining the 50/50 girls and become the first ever “50/50 Man”. The current record for a regular season 50/50 raffle was set on “King of Wings” night on July 11th of this year at $2,254. With the extra selling support this weekend and a large crowd expected, that record is sure to fall.

The 2009 Oswego Speedway and Novelis can recycling program looks to improve on the record setting numbers that race fans have turned in over the past three racing seasons at Oswego. Two collection dates remain on the 2009 racing schedule for fans to bring in their recyclable aluminum cans in exchange for race tickets and other Oswego Speedway prizes.

USAC has announced the time line for the Kasey Kahne Steel Palace 100 which is scheduled at the Oswego Speedway on Thursday August 6th. The event has literally been in the planning stages for the past six months and all of the details are finally set for the first return of USAC racing to the Oswego Speedway since July of 1967.

On May 30th 1967, John Hill began a writing career for the Oswego Speedway. In July of 2009, he ended a writing career for the Post Standard. In all, John Hill was the media connection to Central New York for over four decades covering local and national racing interests. John lost his private battle with cancer and passed away on July 29th in Syracuse.

The Oswego Speedway announces their annual deal to Classic race fans by offering up adult three day general admission passes at a special discounted price. This year’s deal will be a bit different than past years and will give fans a chance to buy a limited number of reduced price adult tickets in person or over the phone at two separate race tracks at the end of July.

The July 18th Oswego Bagelry, Days Inn and Scottish Inns night at the Oswego Speedway saw familiar faces making return visits to victory lane. In the PathFinder Bank SBS Racing Series, it was defending “Mr. PathFinder Bank” Dave Cliff getting his first win of 2009. In the Novelis Supermodified division, It was Ray Grahm picking up his second win of 2009. In the second annual “Hoosier Mama” Powder Puff SBS feature, it was Samantha Todd picking up her second win in as many years.

Thirty seven out of forty two pre-registered supermodifieds made it to the Oswego Speedway on July 11th for the first ever $10,000 to win “King of Wings” event. A great crowd of fans also made it to the track despite threatening weather early in the afternoon. Those fans sat through one rain shower that delayed the start of the event that race fans have been waiting to see all season long. If you couldn’t make the event you will be able to watch it on Time Warner Cable Sports later this week.

The PathFinder Bank SBS Series and the Novelis Supermodifieds will put on regular shows and the night will end with the second annual “Hoosier Mama” Powder Puff race which will have ten ladies competing in Small Block Supers provided by ten brave car owners.

Oswego’s newest ice cream shop, the Hershey’s Ice Cream Parlor, will be sponsoring two drivers in the 2009 “Hoosier Mama” Powder Puff SBS race at the Oswego Speedway. Hershey’s Ice Cream Parlor will be on the side of the Rob Pullen #2 driven by event coordinator Kathy Harrington and on the side of the Barry Kingsley #23 driven by 2008 “Hoosier Mama” Champion Samantha Todd.

Burritt Motors and Davis Brothers night at the Oswego Speedway finally saw a repeat winner in the Novelis Supermodified division but it was business as usual in the PathFinder Bank SBS Series which has had only two winners through five feature events. Otto Sitterly picked up win number two in the John Nicotra Racing #7 and Mike Bond got feature win number two in the Terry Solazzo owned #26.
