Otto Sitterly won the Jim Shampine Memorial as he matched only Kenny Andrews, Jim Shampine, Doug Heveron and Bentley Warren in winning a trio of features to start a season at Oswego.  Mike Bond became the winningest driver ever in the SBS series after a post race inspection DQ'd Steve Abt from the Tony White Memorial victory. Chuck Hossfeld dominated the Riche Evans Memorial for the visiting Race of Champions Pavement Modified series.

The Oswego Speedway and Novelis can recycling program looks to shatter the half million mark in recyclable cans turned in over the past four racing seasons with the 2010 version of the “Fan Can Chase”. Three dates will dot the 2010 racing schedule for fans to bring in their recyclable aluminum cans in exchange for race tickets and other Oswego Speedway prizes.

On this Memorial Day Weekend at Oswego Speedway, when track announcer Roy Sova asks all fans to rise as he pays tribute to those who we have lost since the end of the 2009 racing season, it is unfortunate that the event co-sponsor for that day will be heading up the list as Ken Calkins from Parts Plus passed away unexpectedly on March 13th.

Racing action in the month of May continues at the Oswego Speedway this week with a regular night 45 lap feature for the Novelis Supermodifieds and a 30 lap feature for the PathFinder Bank SBS Series. This is another race date that features $12 adult admission at the track but $10 advanced sale tickets at any Price Chopper Supermarket. The racing this week is sponsored by 2 Xtreme Auto Transport & 24 Hour Towing and Mitchell’s Speedway Press.

Defending Novelis Supermodified Track and Classic Champion Otto Sitterly picked up right where he left off as he drove to victory Saturday night at Oswego Speedway on Burritt Motors and Syracuse Post-Standard night. Joining Sitterly with AT&T podium finishes were Joe Gosek in second followed by “The Youngest One” Daniel Connors, Jr. in third place. In the PathFinder Bank SBS Series it was Steve Abt getting his first ever win ahead of Mike Bond, who is tied for most all time wins in the division.
