OSWEGO, NY (January 14, 2013) – Oswego Kartway was officially voted as CNY Karting’s 2013 ‘Track of the Year’ late Sunday night. The vote, which included input from several area racers, teams, and fans, came right down to the very end with the Kartway nearly edging Frozen Ocean Speedway by a mere three tallies.
With the title ‘Track of the Year’, the Kartway will be presented with a plaque but will also receive free promotion of the 2013 season by the staff of CNY Karting.
“We continue to be proud of the family friendly racing environment that has developed at Oswego Kartway,” said Oswego Speedway co-owner, John Torrese. “All of us associated with the Kartway, as well as the Speedway, are humbled by this award especially seeing as though it came by way of a vote by our teams and fans. I personally would like to thank all of those racers and fans, but also the remarkable staff of Oswego Kartway, who puts in countless amounts of hours to make our facility what it is every season.”
Moving into its 8th year of operation, the Kartway continues to be guided by race director Jim Losurdo.
“A big thanks goes out to the group of people that spend every Friday of their summer at Oswego Kartway,” said Losurdo. “With the voting as close as it was it goes to show what kind of karting community we have as a whole in CNY. The Kartway is proud to be a continued partner in that community and we look forward to 2013.”
The 2013 season at Oswego Kartway gets underway Saturday, April 20 with an open practice session from 1-5pm. Racing action will take the green flag on Friday, April 26 with a pre-season non-point event before rolling into a seven week stretch to begin the track championship chase on Friday, May 3.
Work is currently underway to continue the Driver Rewards Program started at the Kartway in 2012, which allowed driver’s attending every weekly point show last season a chance to win a brand new 2013 PRC Triton kart courtesy of Oswego Kartway.
